Father God, I thank you and love You so much. I thank You for Your Son Jesus, my Savior. It is only through His sacrificed life that I understand physical death is not the end of the story. Because He died, I am living this life to live again eternally with You.
I pray for the families of loved ones who have gone home to be with You.
I pray they seek the comfort only You can give.
I pray they receive revelation that You love them as much as You love Jesus and know these things:
You are the God of all comfort who comforts them in all their troubles so they will comfort others with the comfort You give them. II Corinthians 1:3-4
You are near to the broken in heart and sorrowful spirit. Psalms 34:18
You comfort those who mourn. Matthew 5:4
You give peace so their hearts are not troubled or afraid. John 14:27
You are refuge, strength, and help in trouble. Psalms 46:1
You turn mourning into joy, comfort them and make them rejoice. Jeremiah 31:13
I also pray understanding that grief and sorrow have an expiration because Jesus has already carried them. And as you keep moving forward, grief and sorrow will be the distant past and fast approaching, a bright future.
Finally, I pray comfort with these words from I Thessalonians 4:13-18. But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
Always in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
