This is my son’s dog Joe. He is a boxer, hence the name Joe Boxer. Let’s say altogether “Hey Joe”. Joe loves his owner and his owner loves him. But he is subjected to the many do’s and don’ts of the household. Because we live in a fallen world, we are surrounded by the good and bad and the ups and downs of it. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. When he created man, it was a perfect world. A world without sin, sickness or disease. Man had authority over all creation. When man sinned, he gave his authority to satan and he became the god of this world and ushered in death, decay, lack and want. And with this, came all of the horror and ugliness that we see today.
This sounds bleak, but don’t despair. God in His foreknowledge, already had a plan in place to rectify this mess. The plan was Jesus, the only begotten Son of God. His death on the cross paid redemption’s price and we now can go boldly to the throne of grace and obtain mercy and find grace in time of need. A man messed it up and a man fixed it up. Now as men we have to believe it, receive it and exercise our blood bought authority.
Now what does all this have to do with a dog named Joe? When we accept Jesus as Savior and Lord, we are no longer subjected to the curse that man’s sin brought. Because of Jesus’ death and resurrection, we have been redeemed from that curse and all that came with it. We get to choose life over death, health over sickness, freedom over bondage, and prosperity over poverty. Because of our rights as believers, the choice is ours to make.
The Word of God spells out our freedoms as believers, but you have to actively choose to read, believe, and receive it. So each time I choose to know who I am in the Word, I make that decision, not just for myself, I make it for my family and those in my sphere of influence. And yes that includes Joe.
As a young girl, I made a quality decision to make Jesus the Lord of my life. That decision changed my life. Years ago I made another decision to immerse myself in God’s Word and modify my behavior to line up with it. This decision changed my family’s life. If Jesus continues to delay His coming, generations will be transformed because Grandma Harriet made a bold declaration to choose Jesus. So Joe is waiting, the animals are waiting, the mountains and the hills are waiting on us, the true believers, to take our rightful place as children of God, heirs and joint heirs with Jesus and exercise our authority and dominion over satan, the evil one. They are waiting on us to put and keep him where he belongs, under our feet. When we do, we are liberated and all creation with us.
