On a recent trip to London, this picture was captured. I am in an iconic British red telephone box. As my Trusted Assistant, Favorite Son and I were in the planning stages, we listed must-see places and the world known and easily spotted phone boxes made the list.
To listen is to give attention and hear what is said. As believers, we have the innate ability to hear God speaking to our inner man, our spirit. Created in His image, there is a part of each of us that only He can fill. Try as you may, nothing or no one can fill this space or take His place.
God is always speaking, but we are not always listening. The enemy screams loudly and chaotically, but the Spirit of the Lord speaks in a still small voice. In order to hear God, get quiet, get in a quiet place and listen.
Listening to God has its benefits
When you listen to God, you learn His voice
Knowing the voice of the Lord is critical when seeking His plan for your life. Sometimes there is only a moment where a door is open for you to walk through and timing is of the utmost. You need to know it is Him and follow.
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. John 10:27 KJV
When you listen to God, your faith increases
Faith comes by hearing and hearing and hearing the Word. So, the more you hear the Word, the more you believe and the more that Word manifests in your life.
A faithful man shall abound with blessings: Proverbs 28:20 KJV
When you listen to God, you become more confident
Listening to God develops fellowship with Him. This continued fellowship fosters intimate relationship and confidence. You are sure that He got you and He got the situation.
This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.
1 John 5:14-15 NIV
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. Revelation 3:20 NIV Is God speaking this to you now? Do you desire to commune with God and make Jesus your Lord and Savior? If so, I offer the prayer of salvation here
Because I continue to listen to God, I am more attuned to His voice, more confident in His plan, have a relationship with Him, and have faith to receive the promises He has earmarked just for me. Just as He speaks to me, I know, and you do too that God has been speaking a word to you. And sometimes He confirms His Word through people. ARE YOU LISTENING?
