December 5, 2014 in the wee hours of the morning, I gave the love of my life, my best friend, my man of God, my husband of 33 years, his last breath and he gave me his. He transitioned from this life to his eternal life in a peaceful instance and it changed my life.
When one door closes, another door opens. In my life, my new door was opening before the old door closed. Years before, while caring for my husband's health challenges, God began to feed me information for health and healing of the body and soul. From Titus 2:4-5, He instructed me to teach younger women how to love their husbands and children and be keepers of their homes. I realized that through intense prayer, studying and meditation, he was revealing and unveiling my new assignment, this blog: Always a First Lady: Transforming lives with faith and wisdom principles for wholistic living.
For more than three decades as a wife, mother, and First Lady of a growing church, I honed skills in relationships, caregiving, finance, counseling, spiritual growth, healthy living, and design, just to name a few. Since my husband's transition, countless numbers of people have expressed their gratitude for the many acts of service that we gave during our years of ministry. Many continue to seek my counsel. The impact on the thousands of lives is priceless. My mandate is to share the tips and tools I have gleaned over the last 30 plus years by being a light of guidance to those who need a light for direction.
To those that are wise, your resounding message to me has been You are always my First Lady, and for this I say thank you. To those that are otherwise, I say thank you because in difficult situations, you have caused me to exercise faith muscles that I have never used.
How can I Always be a First Lady when my Man of God has transitioned? Being First Lady is a calling not just a title. It may have been initiated because of marriage to a pastor. But God placed the calling on my life to be First Lady before He created me. Although the **synergistic relationship with my best friend has ended in this realm, my totally dependent relationship with my Father, my Abba will never end. His call requires that I will always be first to give glory, praise and thanksgiving to God in every situation. I will always be first to love, encourage, and support loved ones and others. I will always be first to hear God and be obedient to His plan for my life and the life of my family. I will always be first to tell the story of my Daddy, my Father God who loves us so much and always sets us up to win big every time.
